The size of project on memory card!

How can I check the memory size of my project, which I will copy on the memory card. The client want to buy memory card for emergency backup. I do not have the memory card right now, but I downloaded program into CPU and see from online PLC mode in PG, that USED "load memory" is 265010 and "work memory" - 19938. What does it mean? 1) Is the complete data of PLC project about 285 KB? Is it all that TIA portal copies to memory card through menu "Write to memory card" and 2 MB is more than enough for my project? So why somebody needs the 24 MB cards ? Am I right - "the HMI program is on the own flash internal storage in KTP panel, NOT on the memory card of the CPU "? [schnippschnapp] Thank you in advance !

Mr D Posts: 21 Rating: (4)	Hi, To check the size of the program for memory card use, you should highlight the PLC station in the project tree the go to Tools>Resources. A screen will popup showing the size of program in load memory and work memory. Load memory is where you download to from Step 7 Basic. This can be the internal flash area of the CPU OR the Simatic MC (when Simatic MC is set up for Program Mode). If the Simatic MC is set to Program mode, it must remain in the CPU as it becomes the load memory and replaces the internal flash. If the card is set to Transfer mode, the contents of the Simatic MC are copied to the internal load memory. This means that the Simatic MC can then be removed. It seems that you will require a Transfer card. The 24Mb Simatic MC would be required to perform a firmware update at this time. The HMI application is downloaded to the HMI and resides on its own internal flash. [schnippschnapp] Please see section 3.4 of the system manual. It describes how to handle Simatic MC's. hamzeh.razm Member Joined: 6/6/2020 Last visit: 4/11/2023 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hi, You can find load memory size in step 7 with below path; S7 projet tree --> cpu --> s7 program --> click right on blocks --> object properties --> blocks --> ((user program memory + system data memory = total size in load memory)) Load memory is non-volatile storage for the user program, data and configuration. Work memory is volatile storage for some elements of the user project while executing the user program. Retentive memory is non-volatile storage for a limited quantity of work memory values.
