A long time ago we were tasked with converting a TI555 CPU to a S7system, and tried to use the TI505-S7 converter. This is what I remember from that experience:

- Unless you configure the task manually, the whole conversion will be brought into OB1 in the S7 CPU, no FCs of FBs to structure the project. This can result in a very slo and bloated program that does not take advantage of the S7 program structure.

- The transfer of all SFPGM must use SCL and linked STL statements (if pointers are required), so you must use Step 7 Professional for the conversion. Even then the code can be obscure.

- TI505 CPUs have a lot more datatypes that Step 7, and conversion of these will sometimes cause conflicts with the S7 OS.

Basically, all TI505 RLL code transfered rather well, but anything special (loops, PID, SFPGM...) was difficult to handle.e eventually found it easier to do the conversion by hand, analysing the TI505 code to produce blocks of related code that we transfered to FCs/FBs, creating DBs to hold data for the functions, converting SFPGM and PIDs using inbuilt SFCs/SFBs of the S7 libraries. It was a better fit for our own continuying project, and made our S7 code much more debuggable and maintainable.
