TIA Portal Cross Reference Issue

Gabriel23 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi all I have been using the TIA V10.5 and V11 software for about 5 months now. I see that Siemens have improved their software but I still have a few issues that is causing me great frustration. I have attached a screenshota of where I am trying to cross reference bits within a datablock. Some of them I can cross reference and others I can not. Please have a look at the screen and provide me with some suggestions. I am running V11 SP2 Update 4 at the moment. The address of the bits seems to not make a difference. There are certain bits in my program that have very low addresses that also have trouble cross referencing and others workAlso I cannot make a change while online otherwise my software crashes and restarts. My project file also becomes corrupt every time the software crashes causing delays and me losing my work. I have highlighted which bits in this specific network I can and cannot x-ref. I have a Siemens S7-400 CPU. I know its a long post but it is difficult for me to tell the client that this software just can not do what all other vendors and even Step7 V5.5 can do. Any help would be appreciated. Is it my code or is it the Siemens Software? Attachment Screen2.jpg (371 Downloads)

All promises goes for V12 version. Can't tell you good news for now only that V12 should be available in February. Most of what you can do is to open new support request about thos esoftware crasesh when editing online. It hasn't happened to me yet, but this could be serious issue.

Jorsal Posts: 74 Rating: (31)	As far as I have tested, most of the issues regarding cross references has been solved with V12. I used to have the mentioned errors with some bits not showing up, but now it seems to work. But do anybody know how to show overlapping access to an address? E.g. %MW20 and M20.1? Those 2 tags will access part of the same area, but I can't figure out how to to get the TIA Portal to show it to me. In Step7 V5.5 I could right click on a tag in the program and put a checkmark in "Overlapping access to memory areas".

Usab Posts: 33 Rating: (3)	Currently you have to use the ProgramInfo - Assignment list. There you have an overview of the tag address assignment, but you have to findthe overlappings with your eyes. There is no filter to show all overlappings. If you are interested only in specific address, say you want to see if there is overlapping tag definition at address "%M20.0", then it is quite clear in assignment list. Be aware, the assignment list only shows you tags that are actually used in your code, if you define a tag but never used it in the program, if will not show up in the assignment list. usab
