Tia portal password protections issues

iolostan2 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hello experts, I recently started learning the ins and outs of s7 programming. My last task concerned software protection. Thus I learned how to read/write password protect a s7300 cpu in the mmc program config. I also learned how to use know_how_protect. The latter option in tia portal 11 though has baffled me. It seems you can protect any function within the program using right click - properties - protection. Thus the blocks will be read/write protected with your defined password. You can change the password as long as you still have that block open. Now here is my issue: If you close the block and reopen it, after you type in the password, even though you have access to your code, you can no longer change or remove the password (protection button greyed out). Of course you can copy paste the whole thing into another function block, out with the old password in with the new password. This solution though is not scalable and it would seriously impair managing big projects. Does anyone have a solution to change the password for the protected blocks? (after you entered the original password and received access to the block) Also I still haven't managed to find the way to password protect the hmi c / vb scripts. I followed several threads for wincc 6 or 7 but the solution provided there: select info field and check the password protection box is not applicable to wincc v11. I would greatly appreciate if someone provided a solution to password protect the scripts ( not just know_how_protect) in tia portal 11.

The normal behavior should be, that user is able to change the password when the block is not opened in Editor. Independend if it was opened before or not. Important is, you need to close the block (editor not opened) iolostan2 You can change the password as long as you still have that block open.
