TIA Portal V11 SP1 Crash when opening help

KevinN Posts: 41 Rating: (3)	Hi all, I have had this problem since V10.5 and now even with V11 SP1. Here is what happens: If I open a project and the click "open project view" then it will go to the project view. If I press F1 it opens up the help. Now if I press the "maximize button" and then press it again (restore down) then the help just closes, or if the help is reopened and maximize and restore button are pressed then it crashes TIA Portal and gives this error: "The application has encountered a problem and needs to close. Would you like to restart the application? Restart or Close buttons" This is followed by a Microsoft .NET Framework error. "Unhandled exception has occurred.... Here is some of the error: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************ Exception Text ************ System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. at System.Drawing.SafeNativeMethods.Gdip.GdipFillRectangleI(HandleRef graphics, HandleRef brush, Int32 x, Int32 y, Int32 width, Int32 height) at System.Drawing.Graphics.FillRectangle(Brush brush, Int32 x, Int32 y, Int32 width, Int32 height) I have noticed it doesn't always do the above, sometimes it will just crash in the same fashion as the below: The second scenario. If I open up my project and go to lets say "device configuration" and select my S7-1200 CPU. I press F1 and the help opens and displays its page but then crashes with the same "The application has encountered a problem and needs to close." It however does not give a .NET error but instead some other error. (see attached screenshot) I tried this on a different computer and I have recently formatted and reinstalled on my own PC, but it is still giving the same problem as before the format. Updates for STEP 7 V11 SP1 and WinCC V11 SP1 Under what OS did you install TIA Portal. Make sure your OS is compatible with TIA. Best regards, Hristo MIhalev

KevinN Posts: 41 Rating: (3)	Okay. I installed the update whichUMENCHOsuggested and the problem persists. If not worse. The maximize, shrink problem still occurs. What is happened more frequently is if I press F1 then the help appears, but nothing loaded in the screen and then closes again. If I try again it will sometimes remain open. Once it is open, if I minimize the help and carry on working then if I click on just about anything else then I get the "application has encountered an error and needs to restart" error.

KevinN Posts: 41 Rating: (3)	Update 2 has been installed. The help seems a bit more stable, however the maximize shrink problems seems to be partially fixed. It works most of the time but occasionally the help will just close. No TIA crash though! After the help closes itself then one has to open it a few times after that to actually get it to stay open (without restarting TIA) What does crash TIA is if you leave the help open and work on the project. I find if I change maybe from "device configuration" to "program blocks" this will happen. The above is just an example, but I don't think it is linked specifically to those.
