Got a TP1500 I'm programming with TIA Portal V14. It has logs on network storage. After a download I always get error "80015: The network is not present or not started. 1222" My logs fail initialization.

I can stop runtime and start it again manually and the logs will initialize correctly.

Is there any way to fix this? Is there any way to postpone the initialization of logs for a few seconds on startup?

We do the same on WinCC Flex and have had no issue there. I feel like TIA is taking many steps backwards in many area's.

in general I would not log directly to an archive in the network, because you have no logs when it is disconnected for any reason. Better create the logs on a local memory and copy resp. move them to the network when they are closed - see How do you safely copy and move archives with WinCC Comfort/WinCC Advanced?

Anyway, logs have the property "Restart behaviour > Enable logging at runtime start". Deactivate it and e.g. check the point of runtime start in the PLC and set a tag after the required delay. On change of this tag call system function StartLogging.

Archiving creates new files every time it archives. 30-something panels, every 24hrs, thems a lot of files. Would require our other software to be modified to do the clean-up. Archiving files also doesn't create nice and easy to read multi column .csv files. Dumps everything in single column. Would again require modification on other software.

Copying logs was another one I looked at since it would require the least amount of changes to other systems. And here it also creates a single column .csv file. But worst of all it also requires access to the network log. Yields a big fat "9999 Global: Unknown error," when trying to copy. Even when closing/opening all logs it gives the 9999 error. Restarting the runtime fixes this.

This is a built in function. Download to panel gives $RT_DIS$ entry in logs. Stopping runtime, rebooting panel, sudden power failure on panel all give $RT_OFF$ entry in log. In this case reconnection to log is no problem.

This was no issue in WinCCFlex, but in Industry 4.0 ready TIA Portal, network connectivity is suddenly an issue......

Also noticed multiple actions on the same event do not execute top to bottom. As was the case in WinCCFlex

Parking this issue. Wasted too much time already on an issue that shouldn't even be an issue.
