New to this forum as well as this software.  Not an engineer, but more of a graphic designer helping out with screen layouts etc.

So, these questions are based on HMI programming....

Question 1:  Why can I not format numbers so that numbers greater than 999 have comma separators?  ie. 1,000.00 or 1,000,000.000 etc.

Question 2:  I want to have a single text line of screen real estate to show messages in a ticker tape style format.  How is this accomplished?

It is a matter of "Control Panel > Regional Settings" on the HMI device you are going to use.

Actually there is no control object for a ticker in WinCC TIA (at least for a RT Advanced). Maybe you can ask the PLC programmer to provide a string tag having a ticker funtionality.

Just found out that the comma separator works on the comfort panel, but not on the basic panel.
