TIA V11: S7-1200 PID Compact: Commissioning Crashes TIA Portal

Slack Posts: 30 Rating: (0)	Whether online, or offline, whenever I click the Commissioning icon on my PID compact instruction TIA portal creashes. The application is dead simple - the PID compact is the only reason I am using the S7-1200. Thermocouple xmitter into AIN on CPU1211 = feedback. PID output = PWM to digital output, and SSR. Heater control. Development PC is Win XP Pro 32 Bit. ~~I did recently add modbus client to this app.~~ Irrelevent, I opened a previous version and I have the same issue.

Hello, for that I suggest complete details of installed softwares.To access that ,in project view go to help-->installed software--> Detailed information about installed software.Please, provide a snapshot of that view here to give us more clues. Hello, I suggest updating your current version of software using.You can search for update files available in online support,as I did for Updates for STEP 7 V11 SP2 and WinCC V11 SP2 and you can check what improved for each case. My configuration is Windows 7 and RAM Capacity is only 2 GB . I done auto tunning and simultaneously i used the HMI runtime, it is working good only. Some time it automattically give one error and close the application when ever my system RAM reach more than 80% load. So better you go with as per specification from siemens 4 GB RAM. What you said really 1200 PID Compact is quite good

Gosh, let me run out and get a Core i7 Haswell based box with memory maxed out! ASAP! Wait a minute, now that I think of it, this current development box has run TIA portal (slow dog that is is) just fine for years. And Labview 2011, and RSLogix5000, and CoDeSys, and hosts of other industrial automation software from many other vendors. I really do not think that is the source of my issue. . All kiding aside, I have used this very box for PID compact tuning on many projects. Just so happens this latest need is for a home / hobby project: electric meat smoker. So I am not in a hurry. I contacted local Siemens distributer here - he said they had seen this before, and the PID portions had to be rebuilt - So I added another PID compact, and configured it just like the old, and deleted the old. Compiled with 1 warning: PID not tuned. While re-configuring, I noticed a few extra options in the 'Basic' config dialog - so I was hopeful. But it did not work, TIA portal still crashes when I attempt to enter the tuning dialog. Guess I will have to re-install. If that doesn't work I guess I could try programatically starting the autotune at runtime.

I think the system try to fetch many datas simultaneously more than RAM capacity.So it made this process to stop mode

hdhosseini Diamond Expert Joined: 1/28/2009 Last visit: 3/29/2025 Posts: 6867 Rating: (1367)	Hello, Normally it is possible to commission the controller via "Watch Tables" or their counterparts in STEP 7 "Variable Tables".I know finding all related signal for proper operation and even tuning is somehow difficult but you can try.It worth testing because you can also automate such procedure from HMI by defining same procedure.
