time measurement via system time

corkscrew Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hii friends, I need to measure the ON duration of measurement inputs or exact time rising edges of two measurement inputs which areB3 and B4 inputs of C240. I made a simple logic by creating simple logic at IPO. Incrementthe value of an int variable at each IPO cycle. my systemcycle adjusted to 1msec. Therefore Ithought that 1msec resolution would be enough for me. But I am handling other calculations inside the task routines. Therefore result is fluctuating around some values. Is it possible to get time value of the measurement inputs whenthe transitions occured? Also if I get it in time format, how can I convert it to a real value to use calculations? It will help me to measurethe periods correctly, Another question: ifthe measurement inputs configuredas rising edge only. Can I get both rising and falling transition time stamp valuesalso? I checkedall infos for measurement input symbol browser, there is no any "time stamp" variable for transition time. Maybe it would be helpful if it add at new versions. my confuguration attached. measurement inputs defined under the axis configiration. thanks Attachment measurement.pdf (354 Downloads)

DenisMor Posts: 344 Rating: (50)	The clock of the Simotion controller is based on a DP cycle, much like the counter you implemented. From 1ms IPO cycle it looks like IPO is executing at the same rate as DP and servo already, so moving logic to servo task will not provide additional improvement. System clock of the Simotion will only display the increments of the DP cycle and not fractions of. Measuring input can be configured to capture both rising and falling edges of the signal. By design, Measuring Input Technology Object is designed to measure/extrapolate the exact position of an axis when the event occurred, not necessarily when in time it occurred. With Scout 4.2 system clocks of the Simotion and Sinamics are in the same format and synchronized, so it would be an interesting addition to be able to provide an event time stamp at Sinamics (125us or better) cycle resolution.

Creating virtual axis. Adding MIs to it. Running the axis at constant speed. Getting measurements in terms of position. Calculating difference. Dividing be axis speed. BTW, remember that single MI can supply only one meaurement set per IPO cycle.
