TIP: How can WinCC Screens be changed from PLC Tags?

Hi,

The way to change screens using Tags is to use Global Actions (C-Script or VB Script) triggered by External PLC Tags.
The scripts in these actions will change the screens.

You can open the Global Script Editor (Either C-Script Editor or VB Script Editor).
Then create an Action. Select the "Info/Trigger" toolbar, or menu option, and select the Trigger Tab.
Set the Trigger to a "Tag" Trigger and select the PLC Tag and "Upon Change" for the cycle.
Now the Action will be executed each time the tag changes.
(Make sure that in computer properties "Startup" tab, the checkbox for "Global Script Runtime" is checked).

Now you can put an "if" expression at the beginning of the script to change to the screen name based on the tag value.

To change the base screen in C-Script you can use the function : OpenPicture("Picturename.pdl");
To change the Picture name in a Picture Window object, you would use the function:
SetPropChar(lpszPicturename,"PictureWindow1","PictureName","Picturename.pdl");

In VB Script you would use the following to change the base picture:

HMIRuntime.BaseScreenName = "Picturename"

For changing the Picture displayed in a PictureWindow object, use:
