Hi, There is many ways to configure an OPC connection between PLC and PC. Here there is a sample of how it could be done. It was used STEP 7 V11 SP1 up2 and SIMATIC NET V7.1 SP2. Follow there is the main steps and, in the sequence, the casts. 1 A – Configure the PLC: IP, IP masc, connect it to a sub network. 1 B – Optional: create symbolic names for tags. 2 A - Configure a PC station with an Ethernet card and OPC. Important: check the version before drag & drop. 2 B – Configure the Ethernet card of the PC. Set the IP, IP masc of the PC. 2 C – Optional: use the symbolic names of the PLC tags. 2 D – Set to export a .XDB file for the PC configuration. 3 - In the Network View configure a interconnection of both Ethernet adapter to the same subnet (by drag and drop). Configure also the S7 connection between OPC and CPU (selecting the connection type and performing a drag and drop). 4 - Compile the PLC HW and download it 5 – Compile the PC HW. 6 and 7 - Copy the .XDB file to a media (e.g. Pen driver) and transport it to the destination PC (where SIMATIC NET will run). 8 – On the target PC, open the Station Configuration Editor and import the XDB file 9 A– For tests proposes, open the OPC Scout (e.g. under START->SIMATIC->SIMATIC NET) 9 B – In OPC Scout , double click on OPC.SimaticNET, give a name for a group (for example, “aaa”). 9C – Open the OPC Navigator, by double click on the created group. 9 D – For absolute address, browser the S7, connection name, Objetcts, M and click on New Definition. For tests proposes, select INT as data type, address 0 and quantity 1. Bring the definition to right side of the window and confirm with ok. Look if the status is showed as “good”. 9 E – Optionally, you can browser symbolic name, brownsing the SYM->Station name-> PLC name. see also the FAQ
