TIP: reference projects in STEP 7 V12

Reference projects makes possible to open simultaneity a second (or more) projects to compare or to copy objects to the “main” project (project that is actually open for edition). TIPs: To see reference project you need to enable its visualization on top menu-> view->Reference projects (Ctrl+9) Copy objects from the reference project are only possible if both projects have the same version (e.g. V12 to V12). To compare both projects, click on the project CPU, right mouse button, compare, offline/offline. In the open window, drag & drop the CPU from the reference project

But, if you want to do more than copy and compare blocks than you still need to open the project in a different window. (= first closing the reference project because you can open only the project one time, = time consuming) i hope in the future siemens will add functionality for reference projects. i already have 3suggestions: * Make it possible to open and compare PLC tags * Make it possible to do cross-reference in the reference project * Make it possible to open wincc screens out of the reference project Are there different options to compare screens and io-tables?
