Hi, The S7-1500 has many possibilities to establish open communication (e.g. TCP/IP). The manual “S7-1500, ET 200MP, ET 200SP Communication Function Manual” (http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/59192925) gives good overview of the communications functions with S7-1500 and the online help of STEP7 gives information about the communications blocks itself. 1) S7-1500 has available the three types of communication: - S7 functions (that includes PLC-PLC communication, PG- PLC and HMI –PLC) - Open Communication (that includes TCP, ISO-on-TCP, ISO, FDL, FTP and e-mail). - Point-to-Point Communication (that includes Free Port – ASCII, 3964(R), MODBUS RTU, USS). - Automatically (PG/HMI): no configuration/program on the PLC side. The PLC operational system manages the connection. - Programmed (TCP, ISO-on-TCP, ISO, FDL, FTP and e-mail), connections are configured, managed and controlled by user software (i.e. by block calls). - Configured (TCP, ISO-on-TCP, ISO, FDL) connections are configured on Network View; the connections are managed by CPU operational system and the user program has some feedback of it on the block calls. 3) About Open communication (TCP, ISO-on-TCP, ISO), with configured or programmed connectios, with use of TTSEND_C, TRCV_C,TCON, TSEND, TRCV, TDISCON, I place here the follow overview table:
