TIP: STEP7 V13 SP1 and structured variables in the PLC Tag Table

Hi,

A new feature that STEP7 V13 SP1 brings is that structured variables can be opened in the PLC Tag Table. It should be used for example to define the telegram structures of Drive communication, for example.

TIP:

Create the User data type and compile the project before to use.

It is possible to use it for Inputs and Outputs (no memories).

The User Data Type “takes” at least onebyte .

Here there is a sample project to exemplify this feature.

Hi Denison,

I am able to open your example project, add new user data types, and then see them in the data type pull-down menu under "PLC Tags".

However, I am unable to do it in my own project. I even created one from scratch, almost identical to yours (same CPU, for instance). I compiled everything, still the UDT does not appear in the pull-down menu.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi.

I had the same issue, but executing a compile action sorted it out.
It seems not to solve it for you.

Do know that the UDTs are not listed
alphabetically between the system data types,
but at the end of the list.
What happens if you type out the UDT name?

What is the version of your software (include update)?
Also could you share the test project where you are having trouble?

EDIT:     (TIA Portal V13 SP1 Update 6)
The UDT is listed at the beginning of the lookup list.

Also.. the UDTs are listed regardless if you compile or not.
BUT the UDT is marked in red at first until the code is compiled.
