TIP: TIA V17 How to simulate an WinCC Unified Project:

I ran into some difficulties when I migrated my projects from V16 to V17 regarding how to simulate a project. I also noticed that some colleagues are going through the same difficulties (Like Ganainy, helped by BBriten in Unified v17: Can't login, and and  tomaspipal, helped by ZickZackTIA in Failed to start unified panel simulation in V17 Failed to start unified panel simulation in V17).

So, decide to write here some tips regarding this subject:

Compared with V16 version, TIA V17 implement some security measurements, so it is not more possible to simulate an WinCC Unified Project using a predefined (in WinCC Unified – Configuration) Administrator user / password.

So, to simulate a WinCC Unified Project it is now necessary that at least one user is predefined in the project configuration (or that the UMC server features, which is more work).

Then follow the steps to configure the user:

1. Project tree, Security settings, Users and roles, tab Users, <add new user> , Add new local user: give a username and a password (for example User, Password1!) Figure, 1
2. Assigned roles tab, mark at least one role (e.g., HMI Administrator) Figure, 2
3. Click on Start Simulation, when the picture opens, click in Runtime values to expand it, and uncheck the option “Keep current User Administration data in runtime” Figure, 3
4. When starts the simulation, uses the project give user / password.

Additional TIP: In some cases it is possible to get the message "the url****/SwacLogin is unavaliable". It could be fixed in the browser settings, like descripted in TIA V17 help system, under "Information System, Visualizig process (RT Unified), Compiling and loading (RT Unified), Unified PC (RT Unified),SwacLoging: Error after compleet download.

do you tried to simulate the WinCC Unified Project with the "Runtime settings" -> "General" -> "Encrypted transfer" -> "Activate encrypted transfer" unchecked?

I suggest to

1. check IIS settings, like in https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109773589
2. check  firewall and ports, like in https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109792537 and https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/es/es/view/109774151/en
3. be sured that you have created an user in your project and that you do the right selection by download
4. Open a support request about the case and inform us about the given answer.
