To Open Backup file of HMI

SolutionFinder Posts: 559 Rating: (87)	Dear Experts, Every time we are facing problem when client does not have the backup of HMI & if he wants to do modification into HMI or he wants to install new HMI of Higher version then the existing one, if back transfer in not done. In these cases we can't do anything until & unless we get the backup of HMI. If HMI gets damaged also then we have to purchase the same type of HMI. So to remove these of problems I suggest siemens experts to develop some tool by which we can take the image from the HMI & we can open it to edit that backup. I hope this will be very much helpful to all programmers.

But what is the possibilities if any third party supplier supply the machine to client & if doesn't provide the backup or not selected back transfer during download, in this case what can we do? May be the solutionfinder is asking for that, is it right solutionfinder? I have also faced the same problem. So may be there must be some tool to open that backup file. One more idea is that, if possible then Siemens can creat virtual OS for the Windows CE of HMI and that run in our laptop. So may be by this way we can open file of backup.

I have faced many troubles with many obsolete OPs. I should migrate the old software to new one. What if I do not have the old software? Nothing to do for my client. I know back transfer option. But it is just an option. Could you tell me how many times you could found the programmer left a MC inside panel and that MC include the Config. file of the program? I think solutionFinder is looking for a general solution from Siemens. and I am totally agree with him.

"reengineering" to sourcecode is impossible. Same if you have an .EXE File. You will not bring it back to Sourcecode (C++, C, delphi, what ever...)

Prats Posts: 272 Rating: (4)	Hi, I got to know in TIA training that one has an option of forgoing excessive memory by deleting the Alarms and Logging etc from the project.There was a vast difference in the memory used for example Before compilation the memory size rqd was 200MB and after deleting the FAT it came down to 200kb. I saw that happening in TIA Portal, may be this concept can be adopted to upload a programme.
