I will post here since the situation i'm facing is quite similar: I'm developing an application on a comfort panel TP700 (and a 1513CPU) I'm developing the application using TIA portal V15. I have installed Wincc Professional, licenced for 512 powertags. I'm currently uning 215 powertags. I don't have the phisical panel yet, so I'm simulating the runtime on the development PC. In this condition i'm seeing the same message as Alex3110: “Too many variables (Power Tags) in the project. WinCC Runtime Advanced 512 Power Tags v.15.0 . Accept” Disclaimer: i't been a couple of years that one of our customare requested us WinCC Professional Runtime applications, so we decided to install the WinCC professional software instead of the Advanced. What is not really clear to me is: do I need a runtime licence to just test/simulate the application? If you start the Simulation of the Panel then the Advancd Runtime Mode starts up in a Panel simulation mode (you can see the Panel Frame and softkey in simulation). But the Advancd RT Engine is used. The WinCC Advanced Runtime is licensed with Powertag Licenses. But in your situation you just use the Simulation in TIA portal Engineering. In case of Simulation or Testing you can ignore this Message. If you run a productive Advanced Runtime on this System then you should buy a suitable License. But As I said the Message is a normal thing if you use External Tags and do a Simulation. you can ignore it. ByeMurof
