Torque control on S210

I would like to know if Sinamics S210 have torque control option available? 

If so, how should it be commisioned?

Hi,

The SINAMICS S210 is a servo speed-controlled drive. There is no specified parameter where you can choose “torque control”, like in S120 via parameter P1300 (control mode). In fact, a SINAMICS S210 will never operate standalone and requires a SIMATIC controller (S7-1500 / S7-1500T) with motion control functions (like “PositioningAxis”). With the motion control functions, you are able to limit the actual torque. This function is called „MC_TorqueLimiting“.

Does that mean V90 could also be set to "torque control" mode using TOs on S7-1500/S7-1500T?

Yes, V90 can also support “MC_TorqueLimiting”, but I would recommend to use latest Firmware of SINAMICS V90 (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109746210), because for extended “Torque-Commands” you might need telegram 750, which will be supported with V90 FW Version V1.03 or higher.

Here you will find the requirements for “MC_TorqueLimiting”:

Requirements for force/torque limiting:

● The technology object and the reference torque of the drive have been configured correctly.

● No enable-preventing errors are pending for the technology object (the technology object does not have to be enabled).

● The drive must support force/torque reduction. Only PROFIdrive drives with SIEMENS telegram 10x support force/torque limiting.

● Interconnection in the SINAMICS drive:

– P1522 to a fixed value of 100%

– P1523 to a fixed value of -100% (e.g. through interconnection to fixed value parameter

P2902[i]).
