Hi,

I am using the same HMI panel and I am trying to figure out which interface I have to use. The physical part of the interface is obvious but I am not sure about the protocol. Is it ISO or TCP?

Edit: I still have the problem, but found an answer to my question regarding the protocol. It should be TCP (documentation in this regard)

I attached a picture of the error for both of them. The result is the same in both cases, the simulated HMI can't read out parameters and cannot change them either.

When I upload the same program to the real HMI, it works perfectly.

Extra question: Is it possible to run the simulation in the regular WinCC, instead of the advanced one? I have only a trial license for the advanced one, and I thought maybe that is the source of the problem somehow.

 May I ask what kind of settings are you thinking of? I mean, besides the interface options. Just to be sure, I share a picture of the current settings:

By saying regular WinCC I am talking about the one which is not Advanced. As far as I know, there is WinCC Basic/Comfort/Advanced.

I was thinking about that maybe the problem comes from the fact, that I use X2 and not X1 for the connection between my PC and the PLC, but changing the ports doesn't help either.

I am using X2 because I can download my program to the PLC only through this port.

Yes, this is the only one. I can try with a USB-Ethernet adapter as well, but I don't have any right now.

Regrading the simulation program I need to use: I asked the support in this regard and they were saying I don't need the advanced version... So who speaks the truth now? :D

Edit: but anyways, the Advanced version starts with the simulation, so right now, it shouldn't be the problem.

Alright, perfect, but then how should I communicate with the PLC then? When I use X1 to connect the PLC to the PC, I can't go online. TIA sees as an available option, but still unable to connect to it.

Also, when I use X1, the HMI still unable to connect to the PLC.

Perfect question, and yes, I was on the subnet of the X2 port, and also in TIA portal X2 was set as an active interface on the PLC.

The HMI connection works now as well. For the future: People, don't forget to change your connection to X1 both on the PLC itself, inside TIA portal when you are searching for compatible devices, and set your network adapter's IP address in such a way that it is under the same subnet as X1.
