mohamad essam Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	hi all ... i'm new to siemens PLC so it may be a silly question but i need help i have a cpu 314-c 2dp ....TP 170A ... an ultra sonic sonar (7ML52211BA21) which i still couldn't find its manual i want to access the TP through the PC and i dont know the details ... i will put the problem in points to show what i need : 1-the cpu 314-c 2dp has 1 port for MPI and 1dp 2- the connection now will go as follows : the TP with the plc through the MPI .... and the sonar through the dp 3- now i need to access and CONTROL not MONITOR my system with a PC .... so i read that i can connect the tp170A to the PC using PROFIBUS.... if so .... what do i need ?? cables ( i read some about R232 and a multi master cable...i dont know !! ... and software ..for example will i need wincc or i dont need it...just SIMATIC manager??? and if i can't connect the TP directly to the pc ...will i need a DP extension module so i connect the cpu to pc ?? or another TP that can give me more options ?? sry i'm new to SCADA systems so i'm confused...but still searching ...thx

Profibus connection on port 2 with sonic sonar. For both connection you will need connectors like in Product Information on PROFIBUS-bus connector with/without PG socket to 12 MBaud To be possible to connect PG to the port 1 (MPI connection) you will need to chose there Profibus connector with PG socket. Of course there will be use Profibus cable like 6XV1830-0AT15LAN CABLE PROFIBUS 150 M (you could use any manufactures which cover the profibus standards). For the connection between PG and CPU you will need for example - 6ES7972-0CB20-0XA0SIMATIC S7, PC ADAPTER USB Of course there is possible another ways and using another hardware... Hope this helps. mohamad essam Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	sry maybe it is not clear .... i'm not asking how to program my PLC .... i want to make a profi bus network between the PLC ...TP ...and a pc so i'm asking how can i do this with 2 ports on the PLC one for the TP and one for the sonar ??? can i connect the pc to the TP and control the PLC through it ? or is there a cable with 3 ports (1 in the pc ...one in the tp and the third in the plc ?? ) and i tried to find another solution ....using TP177B "4 which have an ethernet interface ...so i can connect the PC to it through that interface ...but will it be just (exchanging data) with the TP or can i use the PC to fully control the plc through the TP ?? and another question :D the Operating system of TP177B "4 can it accept java applications or not ?? cuz this may solve many problems for me ?? thx again

My understanding was just to connect PC to the CPU to monitor the program, to make a little changes eventually... BR, Hristo Mihalev

You can connect the PLC, Panel and Sonar by using profibus cable. mohamad essam Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	thx .... need some explanation for the part of profibus (with cables) as i dont know what to use ..i saw the adapter and the cable he mentioned but i still dont know the particular connection for the part of the ethernet ...why u say i cant ... look : ///You can connect the HMI device to a PROFINET network via the Ethernet port. Note The HMI device can only be used in PROFINET networks. If Sm@rtService or Sm@rtAccess are not used on the HMI device, the following applies: The HMI device only has client functionality in the PC network. This means that users can access files of a node with TCP / IP server functionality from the HMI device via the network. However, you cannot, for example, access data on the HMI device from a PC via the network. The Sm@rtService or Sm@rtAccess options enable access to an HMI device located somewhere else./// from the manual of TP177B "4 this is what i'm asking for ..... thx again for ur answers ....
