Can you explain the differences between the two memory card slots M50 (SIMATIC SD CARD) and M51 (SD CARD)?? I have a memory card 6AV2181-8XP00-0AX0. When I plug it in M50 I get "System Card Error" (it says the licences stored on the memory card are not compatible with the HMI panel). I get no error if I plug it in M51. So if I plug it in M50 and delete those licences and download the program, will the required licenses be automatically copied? What are the behaviour/significance of using M50 or M51? Can someone please explain this?? Regards.

(To do automatic backup of system, see the following link) how do you backup/restore with a Comfort Panel? Best regards, Wizard

Now I have memory card 6AV2181-8XP00-0AX0 and I want to store alarm log and some data in it. Is there a way to use my card for this purpose? I have plugged it in X51-Data SD Card Slot and I can see two folders in it via HMI user interface! While according to the the FAQ above: FAQ The only medium permissible as system memory card (SMC) is the SIMATIC HMI memory card (SD card) 2 Gbytes or more (6AV2181-8XP00-0AX0). The operator panel does not recognize any other memory card as system memory card. The system memory card is a component of the service concept of the operation panels. When you enable the service concept, all the data is transferred from the internal memory of the operator panel to the system memory card. The system memory card is not visible in the user interface of the operator panel nor can it be used as a data memory. If I cannot use it to save alarms and data, where else can I save alarm log and what should be the path entered in project? Regards.
