TP700 Alarm View Font Size Issues

User62719 Advanced Member Joined: 1/14/2014 Last visit: 6/2/2024 Posts: 112 Rating: (1)	I am programming a TP700 in WinCC V12 Advanced, SP1 Update 4. The computer is running Windows 7 x64 Professional. Whenever I use an alarm view in the project and set specific font sizes for the headers and text, I have 2 problems. First, the font size that I enter (example: 23) automatically downsizes by 4-5 points. If I select 23, it is replaced by 18. If I select 18, it is replaced by 14. Then, if I change screens, then come back to the screen with the alarm view, I find that the font size has changed again, without me touching it. Generally it gets smaller. I've left and returned to work on a screen with an alarm view 3 times and on the 3rd time, the fonts have shrunk down to 6 pt. from 18. I have had this same problem in WinCC V11. This all happens without me downloading to the panel (only within the TIA software). This generally does not happen to objects other than alarm windows (button text, standard text) but sometimes it happens there as well. I just had the situation where a text object will be 32 pt. in WinCC, then I download it to the panel, and suddenly it's 12 pt. on the panel. If I change the 32 to 30, then back to 32, it will download correctly. Any have any idea why this is happening? It's taking forever to configure HMI screens because everytime I reopen a window, I find that the font sizes have changed in WinCC. I'm using Tahoma font.

It seems somewhat ridiculous that this wasn't fixed in the software by now, I prefer to have the display size of the icons in windows set to 125% due to the high resolution of my monitor. I've been testing out some different font and style combinations by downloading them to the panel and have noticed another issue. The alignment of the objects is a bit different than they look on the screen of WinCC V12. In some instances, I have text with a symbolic I/O field next to it. When I download the project, the text is much further from the I/O field than in WinCC. In order for it them to be next to each other, I need to halfway overlap the text over the field in WinCC. Ever come across this issue?

I also tried turning off the cleartype text. I have the problem that objects that appear on my laptop/programming screen are offset or a slightly different size when I download them to the panel. Aligning them is a trial-and-error task requiring me to repeatedly slightly change the alignment of an object/text on my laptop screen then redownload to the panel until it is properly aligned. Any other solutions? It seems that the size that the fonts appear on my laptop screen are always larger than how they appear on the panel. I have double-checked that the DPI is set to 96 and the setting is small. Thanks.

The problem is, it doesn't show up that way in WinCC when I actually create the layout. You can find examples of what I'm talking about attached. Thanks. It turns out WinCC V12 didn't think that the font changes I made were worth compiling whenever I hit the compile button, it was compiling the other changes but not the text. Finally, after right-clicking on the HMI in the project tree and forcing everything to be recompiled, the HMI screens in WinCC V12 show up exactly the same in the simulation and on the actual panel as in the project. Hope this helps someone else who might be having the same issue.

I find making me screen unreadable to have Tia Portal work correctly unnacceptable. It is insane that this software has even been released at the unrefined level it is at.
