TP700 popup

Dylan101 Posts: 29 Rating: (1)	Hi All i am trying to get the popup function working on the TP700. if i use the MsgBox in VB i get a message that the script function is not available on current HMI device. what i am trying to do is have it that when the operator clicks on a button there is a popup that appears asking them if they are sure and then based on their choice, Yes or No, complete the logging process. if MsgBox does not work what does. is it possible to get a promt similar to the one you get when you want to delete a recipe data record?

Darius Platinum Expert Joined: 9/28/2005 Last visit: 12/10/2024 Posts: 2957 Rating: (243)	Hello, Its not possible to do what you want on HMI. Those VBS functions are used for TIA WinCC Runtime. If you want pop-up on HMI - you can go for a faceplate. You'll find lots of info how to do it and how to turn it into popup window. This is not recommended if you have lots of popup screens as it will affect performance of HMI dramatically. If it's one or two popus then using faceplate is ok. But don't get me worng, using faceplates is not a bad idea and its very good idea actually, but if you use it for popup windows functions then you have lots of elements in the faceplate, lots tags and lots of visibility connections. and if you have like 30 or so popup screens (I mean faceplate instances on 1 screen) then you have bad performance.

I will give the faceplate thing a try, never worked with it before though I don't think the performance will be impacted as i am basically going to use it to confirm that the operation, in this case, is it a major or minor revision change. There will be two buttons for major or minor change, when you click one i need a 'popup' asking if they are Sure, on clicking yes everything will be save, no and it will go back to editing. Okay, i will look up some of the Faceplate things. If you have any good references please pass it on. Again, thanks for the feedback

Dylan101 Posts: 29 Rating: (1)	Again thanks for the Feedback Darius beginning to think i am expecting to much from these HMI Does Siemens have any Units that can handle popups, this is the first one i am doing and have a few more machine left. i may as well use a HMI that does have this feature, if there are any.

Dylan101 Posts: 29 Rating: (1)	Hey Darius and there in is the problem, cost, the Bane of all engineers Well i have looked at the Faceplate thing and for my application i think i will just use additional screens to create the illusion of a popup, the Faceplate thing is a bit new for me and i don't have the time to learning This topic is closed as far as i am concerned.
