I am using the sample program for the FTP function and I have a very strange problem:

The FTP connection doesn't work (it connects to Filezilla server but don't log in). It stops early step 102 and then timeout. The problem is in the TRCV_function, it goes busy with the error 80A1

But when I open the instance of the FB "FTP_1X00_CMD to watch the rung where the TRCV function is called then it magically works and send the file to the FTP server.

In other word: it doesnt work except when I open the instance of the FB and watch the rung where TRCV is called.

Any idea why this happen and how to fix it?

the PLC, PG and FTP server?
In other words... how are these connected to each other?
Or also... is the PG and the FTP server on the same PC?

 For the test I am doing my PG is the server yes. I simply plugged an ethernet cable between the S7 1214C and my ethernet card.

Do you think it's the problem?

Again my warning.. this is not my field - thinking aloud only.
You need an expert to speak out.

My thinking is that when the program is monitored, a "port" is opened and kept open by TIA and made available to the link.

Test by monitoring something else in the program and see if you have the same result. But frankly I do not know how or why.

It only works when I monitor this  part of the code (the call of the TRCV function, written in SCL)

If I monitor something else, even the same FB but without this section on screen, it doesn't work.

 I found why.....

I am using TIA V12 and the sample program was in V13, I exported the blocs as SCL sources and imported it in the V12 project...

In the V13 version there is an "adhoc" parameter set a "true". This parameter doesn't exist in the V12 so TIA portal deleted it completely and imported only the existing parameters....

To get this "adhoc" function, you have to set the length parameter as 65535 in the input of TRCV...

I found it randomly because I opened the V13 version because I messed up with the call of TRCV function that I was trying to fix ...

F**** Tia portal , really they shouldn't remove parameters if this doesn't match between version, just make an error so we can notice the difference....

I still have absolutely no clue of why it was working when the online monitoring was focused on the call of the function.... I would like to know why.

probably you're wrong, This isn't problem of versions of TIA, but using another Block versions. Probably in TIAv12 if you only incorporate SCL files, system DB has generate via default version of T blocks. Look at Library of communication blocks and there you can see versions. They can be different due firmware versions of CPU also.

Edit: yes, this depended to programmer experience, now you also know about blocks versions...

Don't know, but if your FTP server is on same PC, this can be reason.
