Trigger discrete alarms in HMI from boolean signal

Pabs Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Hi All, I serched for a while the forums and I cannot understand or find a solution for my problem. I don't know/understand how to trigger a discrete alarm in the HMI. Analog was a piece of cake!! I have created in a DB a simple tag in data type WORD. I was also able to configure the 16 bit word alarm in the HMI DISCRETE alarm tab. But I cannot or how to connect the alarm trigger bits in the HMI with my discrete INPUTS from my PLC. For instance: My I0.0 is connected to an AUX contact of a motor's contactor for STATUS. So when my I0.0 is "1" the first bit of the word alarm I created has to have the "1" in order to trigger the alarm...Well, I dont know how to pass the BOOLOEAN signal to a specific bit in the WORD alarm I created in my DB. Please help! My system: TIA Portal v11 SP2 HSP UPDATE 4, CPU 1212C, HMI KTP1000 Thanks!! Pabs

JRautiainen Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	So your PLC program writes the status of I0.0 to the bit dbx0.0 of your DB? Be sure to remember that the bit DBX0.0 is the 8th bit of the word DBW0. the FIRST bit of the word is DBX1.0. Drag and drop the alarm dbw -tag from your plc and drop it to your hmi-screen. define the representation format as binary (instead of dec) and you can see which bit turns 1, when you write 1 to I0.0 Hope this helps.
