Triggering 'LogTag' function in panel from CPU

Getting ready to throw it all away and buy Omron!!!!!!

No documentation gives all the answers, you have to spend several hours finding simple solutions to problems. Customer support now taken 2 days for one reply asking for more detail, I replied to that 6 hours ago but no response yet.

2 weeks looking at this job and no further forwards just frustrating problems with no solutions.

The trace function is very nice but a shame about its limitations. I have almost completed the job if I can just get the Visual Basic problem fixed then I will have accurate data and a csv file. Happy days!

I understand the difference between this forum and customer support, I am sorry if my vented frustration came accross as an attack on the people here. I very much, I mean, very much appreciate the support and information I have found in this forum. Most of what I have achieved the last few months is from looking here for the answers.

I have requested support from Siemens but no resolution yet. I have spent 2 weeks on this particular project and I have almost completed it but for one probably simple problem. I have spent many hours reading manuals and forum threads and found many answers to my problem but not one thatworks.

In my VB Script I am trying to write values stored in an array to a csv file.

This line does not work.

LinePrint(SmartTags("scanData_capture{index,0}") & gap & delimiter & SmartTags("scanData_capture{index,1}") & delimiter)

I have found information that the correct syntax is SmartTags("scanData_capture")(index,0) but this does not work either. Nor do all the various attempts to guess the correct method. I have tried every permutation I can think of but no luck yet.

Icould write a line for every set of values but there are 10,000!

Wow. I have been checking for updates almost daily but the portal was not finding any. Thank you huggy_d1now I have update 5 which allows HMI tag tables to accept arrays. Problem solved and now working perfectly, almost.

The page where I found the link to the update warns of an issue with panel soft keys misbehaving. It says 'please contact the SIMATIC Hotline to obtain an interim patch' I contacted the Siemens hotline and spoke to a very nice man who has no idea about the issue or the patch but he is going to find out and call me back. I hope.

I also reported an issue with the online support request system, my request was responded to asking for some further details. I responded but the system still says it is waiting for customer response. I replied a few times but the status will not change from 'cust. wait'.

Seems my excitement was not to last. HMI now accepting an array but counts each element of the array as 1 tag so it is restricted to 2048 tags. Had it setup for just 500 records yesterday for testing but tried to scale up and no room for my 10,000 element array then!

Back to head scratching!!!

OK problem now solved by adding some memory to the CPU and doing the whole process there. Capture data into an array and then write each record to a csv file. It takes a good few minutes to write the file but at least it is working now.
