Trouble with S7-1200 to PC TCP communication

miki983 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi to all of You. I have a problem with my s7-1200 and it's driving me nuts, so I thought no better place to ask for help than here :) Here's the deal. I'm trying to make my s7-1200 communicate with my PC over a TCP connection, with the PC running a LabVIEW VI. At first I received a demo box from a local Siemens dealer, and made it work with TCON, TSEND and TRCV. The demo box had a 1214C CPU along with some expansion modules which should be irrelevant. The problems started when I received my ordered 1212C CPU. I uploaded the same program (changed the HW configuration only), started the same LabVIEW VI and can't get the connection to work?!? Using the online test it would seem that the TCON establishes the connection, and the PLC and the VI should proceed with the communication, first part being VI sending data to the PLC, after which the VI receives some data back. But the TRCV sets up 'ready to receive, job started' and nothing happens until my VI times out. Might be improtant...I had two days of hell trying to put my 1212C into run mode upon receiving it. The worst part is I'm not sure what I've done when it finally started. So...any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance!

Denilson Pegaia Platinum Member Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 3/14/2025 Posts: 4406 Rating: (1475)	Hi, it is not easy to us detect what goes wrong at distance... however some suggestions: 1 - If you made a upload, it is possible that the IP mask is not correct. Please, check it. 2 - Divide your program in small parts, for example, just with the communications, or up to have something that works. 3 -As alternativa,in the TIP Sample program: S7-1200 HypterTerminal TCP comunications/tf/WW/en/Posts/49723#to , there is an example of TCP connectionwith Hyperterminal. Try to mount it and see if works (it is better start from a know point).

Regarding Your ideas here's the deal so far: 1) If by IP mask you're reffering to the subnet mask, both the PLC and the computer have the same mask, 255.255.255.0, with IP addresses PLC 192.168.0.41 and the PC 192.168.0.241. This setup worked perfectly with the 1214C from the demo box. 2) Program is a rather small&simple one, OB1 has 4-5 rungs, the first one used for the TCON, and the second one calls a function block with TRCV and TSEND (of course only after TCON signals done). It was written mainly to test the communication, and it also worked perfectly on 1214C. 3) Thanks for the link, haven't had time to try the program, I'll try to do it today. Found two more things going step-by-step. First, the 1212C has a 1.0.2 firmware, while the 1214C has 1.0. I'm using software v10.5 SP2, but regardless when starting a new project and adding the PLC I can only select version 1.0 (not sure if this is for firmware, or is it a hardware version?). Not sure if this might be causing trouble? Second, my previous post was somewhat incorrect. The TCON on 1212C executes seemingly OK, but only for one cycle, after which it sets all flags to 0 and the status word to 7002, while the TCON on 1214C executes once, establishes the connection and keeps it open like the manual states it should (done flag==1, status 0000)?!? P.S. the program was written in v10.5 before upgrading to SP2 if it matters at all?!?

miki983 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Solved it... Wasn't aware that with the new firmware 'DONE' on TCON is supposed to stay on for only 1 scan cycle instead permanently. Pegaia thanx very much for replying.
