I have to configure VLAN on 2 different switch (XR324-12M and XM416).How can I cofigure the trunk mode on the switch XR324? Have you an exemple of VLAN configuration for this 2 switch? (to put correctly the letter U/M/F : because i have some difficulties to understand)

Because on the XM416 I don't have this problem. (System > Port> Switch-Port VLAN Trunk)

I have some details about this problem. I tried to configure the mode trunk on CLI command but I don't have the "TRK" menu.

Do you know why?

On the XR324 the Firmware running is an older type to that in the XM416, so in the XM416 as you have seen you have the option in the "Port" list to tell a port it is a "VLAN Trunk", nice and easy.

Well in the older XR324 you just need to understand the terminology those letters mean (U and M).

OK, by default all ports will have a U for the VLAN1 (Management VLAN). That's ok just leave that for now.

Now,

1. create your VLAN on the XR324 VLANs menu.

2. For Egress rules (i.e. traffic going out of a port to another device) you will want to make that port a Member of the VLAN you created. And here is the bit to get right :

U - use this if the device connected is an end-device that does not understand VLAN Tags, i.e a PLC, HMI, Drive etc. Traffic going out will have the VLAN Tag removed as it leaves the port.

M - use this if the device connected to the port understands VLAN Tags and you need it to recognize the VLAN ID. i.e. when the port is a ring port connected to the next X300 or XM400 switch. So effectively you are making into a Trunk port so it will pass traffic from all VLANs outbound to the next switch. It could also be used if the device on that port is a PC that has an Interface (NIC) configured for VLANs.

3. Create the Ingress rules by going into the individual port VLAN setting and for example set it so that any traffic coming into a port gets the appropriate VLAN Tag added. So elsewhere on the network, other switchports that are also members of that VLAN will "see" the traffic from that device.

There are other checkboxes like only allowing Tagged frames or ingress filtering, but look at those after you got the basic concept working

Thank you for your help. Yes this advice help me, I put in place what you said and its works.

But I have another question. You can see my infrastructure in attachment.

I have no problem to ping each PC. I have no problem to access on the switch XR324 because they are an option to allowed the switch access in all VLAN.

But how can I do to acess on my switch XM416 by the port number 2 which is in the VLAN100.

 A new firmware : v4.0.2 allow to put a port in trunk mode.
