TS Adapter

char Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I have a question and am posting it here hoping to get your support. I have TS adapter V5.2 (6ESA 7 972 0CA34-0XA0). MPI/DP to RS232. I also have extension cable. but it is Ok as far as i can see.the power LED lights up, but the active LED doesn't. I have also adjusted the transmission speed. the problem is when I try to go online, an error message pops up. What could be the problem? any help is welcome.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, please excuse my confusion... but I am. As far as I know SIMATIC offers TS-Adapter I, TS-Adapter II or TS-Adapter IE but TS-Adapter 5.2 is new to me. Is it possible that you speak about your TELESERVICE Software? You mentioned that you try to go Online... but you did not mention with which Software you want to go online to what. May you tell us a bit more about it? Lastly I would like to know which cable you connect between your "Adapter" and your PC, do you have some order# for it? Best regards J_Bell

char Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello J_Bell, thank you for your reply. with regard to the confusions: 1. I have an MPI/DP to RS232 adapter. Printed on the adapter is the following: SIEMENS SIMATIC S7 TS adapter V5.2 1p 6ES7 972 0CA34-0XA0 SVP U7519473 so is this the spec. of the adapter or the teleservice software? I think it is that of the adapter. 2. I tried to go online to the S7-300/400 CPU with the adapter and my laptop. the power LED on the adapter is ON, but not the ACTIVE LED. By the way, i have the simatic S7 V5.4 version. but i don't have the teleservice software. Do i really need the software? 3. I connected the MPI/DP side of the adapter with the CPU and the RS232 side with my laptop. infact, i use extension cables as the adapter terminal and my laptop both have female terminal. as far as i understand, the extension cable is ok. Does the extension cable have to be specific? the extension cable is "TDK>ELITRONIC-CY LIYCY 4*0.14 TN 2L60184 4. I tried to attach the TS manual. but i couldn't. you can see the TS manual( A5E00078070-02)Thanks.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Char, I found this FAQ at the Support pages, I guess it will answer all of your questions. Which cables can you use for connecting the PC and the TS adapter? As you see you need the TELESERVICE Software and you need a"zerro modem"cable (is it really called this way???) to connect your PC to the TS Adapter. Best regards J_Bell
