If you are looking for one signal in, two signals out, then that signal multiplier (other vendors call them signal splitters) will work. If, on the other hand, you are looking for two signals in, with switching control over which of the two signals is the output, then you need a signal selector. It is frequently attempted with a DPDT electromechanical relay, but there are issues. A relay switching between two analog signals has a short time period during the switchover when the circuit is open. A lot of devices will sense the open circuit on its analog input and go to fault or failsafe mode. There are make-before-break relays, but the switch action can can have two analog signals bucking each other. A cleaner method is to do it in a PAC or PLC, with an analog signal selector, like in the attached pages. If there is a commercially available signal conditioner that does A-B signal selection with a discrete control signal, I'm not aware of it. There are several univeral math modules with dual inputs and a single AO, but none have a discrete control mode to switch for A to B or B to A. Attachmentanalog switch.pdf (145 Downloads) |
