Now I am struggling with understanding the output of the CIM 500 card. For instance what the addresses stand for in Setpoint. I have read that it is a value from 0 to 10000 (0.01% steps), but I am unable to convert the output from CIM to these values.

Please give me some hint if you have some otherwise I will post something when I get it working ;)

Yes, sorry about the missing information, I was probably distracted a lot by my frustrations trying to make this work 

I have attached the documentation for the module.

It is a Profinet IO module for controlling Grundfos devices, in my case it is a Grundfos booster system, with a CU352 control unit.

What exactly is the problem you are encountering with Setpoint?

Section 7.2.5 seems to offer a simple explanation (and examples) of the setting of the setpoint, based on the Control Mode you have selected previously, and the associated sensor you are using to control the pump, if required (for closed-loop operation).

So you have to first determine how the pump should be controlled (and set that via the Control Mode selector, byte 2 of the control words, by inputting the number that corresponds to your selection. Probably then you can select your setpoint and transfer an INT value (unsined 16, in the Grundfos manual, for example 8000 representing 80% of the max flow, or speed, or pressure, depending on the control mode selected), then you can start the pump through byte 1 of the control words.

It seems the Grunfos controller is quite complex, nd you should study the parameters and the control options you can select before you attempt o control it. you should also familiarize yourself with the status words (inputs) so you can read he controller status, the alarms (faults and warnings) that the controller will generate to warn you of any problem it detects.
