Unable to Copy the blocks in step7

Ammu Posts: 59 Rating: (0)	Dear All Hope all of you doing well. I have one problem with step7 V5.5 I'm using s7-400 (CPU 412-3H) with step7 V5.5. I have programed some FB's and protected using the "Block Privacy" Feature of Step-7 V5.5. Before i was able to download the program in CPU as well as in simulator. But since few hrs i'm not able to download the block's and its prompting the message " Unable to copy the Blocks". I also checked for the solution in the help provide, its ok. I checked: 1. The FB nos. used are in the permissive range FB nos. used are 5,6,10. 2. The IO address used are also in the permissive range. 3. The work memory used is 17302 bytes which is also fine the cpu used. after all this conditions its not allowing me to download the locked FB until i unlock the FB. So please suggest what is the problem and solution for its. Its very crusial for us. Waiting for your positive reply. Regards, AMMU.

gre_m Posts: 947 Rating: (45)	Hello Ammu As far as I know, the blocks protected "Block Privacy" Featurerequire a specific version of firmware ( as sample for 414-3pn/dp need version 6.0)-CPU(block encrypted public key in step7 and decrypted in the PLC). Perhaps that is why you can notdownload some blocks.

I want to protect only that particular FB's not other logic. The other part of the logic, the user can access and modify, apart from the specific FB's. So i need help to download the blocks using protection. For that how can i do that, i need help. Waiting for your reply. Regards, AMMU

You can also use a password on the CPU, together with the organizational differentiation of levels of access. You can think of more sophisticated protection scheme, but the best way to limit access is a mechanical lock with an iron box

I can't think of a reason to knowhow protect your progam, things like that you put in a contract. The siemens protection is easy to crack, commen known. There are programs to record if anyone was messing in your program, little search here will do.

But again, it can be bypassed, U can use password protection in your CPU. The Step7 5.5 protection can only be used from the latest firm ware versions only. Any ways were are trying. bilgehan Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hey Ammu, I understand why you want to use the block privacy and I have the same problem. I tested it in a CPU 313C with v3.3 and it worked fine. But I also tried to download on a CPU315-2 PN/DP with v3.2 and I couldn't do it. This might be the issue of firmware versions of the CPUs but I couldn't find any proper explanation for that. Please let me know if you find any certain results.
