Unable to Delete the project in step 7.

Vijay TCS Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Hello, My problem with Step 7 is that in Simatic Manager, i am unable to delete the project. When I select the project to delete message appears that unable to delete the project. I have attached the screenshots of the error over here. Any ideas ?? No other window of hardware configuration or LAD or Symbol table or Vat or Cross reference of the project should be active. Close all those windows and try.

Elvis Posts: 17 Rating: (2)	Hi, The message that normally I have after a project deleting is that the system is not able to remove completelyprojct folder leaving some"not S7" files. This happens with project that uses notonly basis tools (ex. CFC). The project is deleted but the folder with remaining files should be removed manually. Another possibility is that some S7 services (ex. debugging services) remainsactive in the task: restarting PC should solve.

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (278)	Vijay: How are you trying to delete the project, using Windows explorer or from within Simatic Manager? You should always use the Simatic Manager delete menu. What does the help text say? Is there an OS (WinCC) that was not closed properly? Are there any other users (on the network) who are accessing this project? Try the follwing steps and see if it fixes the problem: 1. In Simatic Manager close the project. 2. Now close the Simatic Manager. 3. Open Simatic Manager again and from file menu delete. Regards

Denilson Pegaia Platinum Member Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 5/26/2023 Posts: 4184 Rating: (1342)	Hi, . the Help on Events (FAQ 770453) says that there are 3 possible causes: Some files or data blocks are write-protected and, therefore, the data can only be accessed on a read-only basis. -> See in Explorer if all arquives of the project diretory are NOT read only. There are still blocks (FCs, FBs, DBs and/or OBs) open and, as a result, the associated projects and directories cannot be deleted. -> Restart the PC, and take care that just Simatic Manager (no LAD editor, WinCC Flexibleor other pakages) are open. If the last remedy point does not help either and the project which you wish to delete is still present under the menu commands "File > Open..." and "File > Delete...", some of the files in the SIMATIC software may be damaged. In most cases, the repair function on the STEP 7 CD can be used to restore the software status on your PC. Otherwise, we recommend that you uninstall STEP 7 completely beforehand and also delete the directories in the Registry Editor. Follow the procedure precisely as described in our FAQ on "Complete Deinstallation of STEP 7 including all Software Packages". You can find this FAQ in Entry ID 189025.

If the problem is for all projects then reinstall Simatic Manager. Does your project has protool integration. Can you mail me your project at ajay.gaikwad@siemens.com
