Understanding "ISO" communication

For exampe, CP 343-1 Advanced-IT is capable of "S7 CP for Industrial Ethernet, PROFINET IO controller, ISO and TCP/IP with SEND-RECEIVE and FETCH-WRITE interface". Now, I know that PROFINET is actually Siemens proprietary protocol for industrial Ethernet communication, and I know that Etehernet is based on TCP/IP protocols. Now the question is what is "ISO" communication? I have found ISO/OSI referencemodel for network communicaton. TCP and IP protocols are on 4th and 3rd layers, but probably that is not related to this type of communication. Can anyone clarify this? Thanks

Note that you'll find links to similar entries for the the other protocols (e.g. ISO on TCP, TCP, UDP, S7 protocl etc.) at the top of that page. One more thing, PROFINET is actually NOT a Siemens proprietary protocol for industrial Ethernet, but instead atermcoined by PI (Profibus International)for "Ethernet-based networking solution for automation" andit is also governed by PI.
