I have the same problem like you. But it shows up after installing TIAPortal v14sp1. Then I uninstalled v14 and installed WinCC Pro v13Sp1. After that I get this trouble - Failed to start simulation. And no any info in TIAPortal or windows event logs. Could you resolve this problem?

Using CD uninstalled WinCC, Step7, PLCSIM and all utilities, updater and License Manager. Then uninstalled MS SQL instances - WINCC and found some WINCCMIGSIM and deleted it too. Then deleted all folder with "Siemens", "Portal", "V11", "V12", "V13" and "V14" which could find and cleared bin.

After reboot PC installed Step7v13, WinCCv13 and PLCSIM. Then installed SP1 for that packages. But simulation didn't started. Reason the same as earlier: Failed to start simulation. And no messages in Windows evenl logger looks like everything Ok.

Maybe TIA Portal can't find WinCC RT?

Anybody has some idea where to delve?

I checked "SIMATIC WinCC Runtime Professional Simulation" is installed in system. And Simatic WinCC Runtime is started and its icon in task panel too.

I decide to make some workaround and save compilled project with Online->Download to file system. However, when I tried to open project in WinCC RT that have got message "Cannot open WinCC project" (see attachment) and nothing in windows event logger and in WinCC log folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Siemens\Automation\SCADA-RT_V11\WinCC\diagnose). Maybe exists another path where logs is saved?

Zip all diagnostic files from folder

C:\Program Files (x86)\Siemens\Automation\SCADA-RT_V11\WinCC\diagnose

and attach the file in your post

I was stuck in the same situation before, and after doing re-installations and removing all Siemens softwares from my PC, I was not able to install software correctly. I also tried all the suggestions in forum.

Finally I had to format my PC, after that I was able to install TIA13 Sp1 w/o any error. May be some of the siemens software are not completely uninstalled, no matter what you do.
