Unknown fault of CP 342-5 module

Sasha2010 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello! I have an unknown problem with CP 342-5 module (oder number 6GK7 342-5DA02-0XE0, firmware version 5.6). The PLC rack contains following modules: power supply CPU 315-2DP (6ES7 315-2AG10-0AB0, firmware version 5.2) CP 342-5 (6GK7 342-5DA02-0XE0, firmware version 5.6) signal modules We have replaced an old module CP 342-5 with new one (above mentioned) from box after become bad communication with our HMI SCADA Intouch profibus devices. After power on, we can see, that all LEDs at CP 342-5 lights on constantly (all four LEDs: SF, BUSF, RUN, STOP), at CPU module LED RUN stays flashing, but STOP LED stays light constantly. Any diagnosis is unavailable, because I can't establish online connection to CPU module. When I replace back my old module CP 342-5, CPU comes in RUN mode with signalization of Profibus faults. What is it? The module CP 342-5 is new, made in Germany, never used before, stay lying for 4 years in box at comfortable place. Is it faulty module, and what we can do in this situation??? May be we need check all new PLC modules. Please, help me.

You have to go online with CPU either using MPI or Profibus and download hardware configuration to CPU which will transfer configuration to CP too. Regards, Behnam www.sigmaprocess.ca/blog

Sasha2010 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Thanks, Behnam! But I can't go online with CPU to transfer configuration into CP, because CPU does not answer on all my actions. I try to establish online connection, in Simatic Manager, in HWConfig, but it is no reaction. I receive a message "Unable to establish online connection with module". RUN led on CPU is flashing and STOP led lights constantly. ALL four leds on CP light on constantly, not flashing. This mode is unknown and there is no any information about this state of CP 342-5 in manual docs. May be, the CP 342-5 module is bad, and it makes shortcircuit in backplane bus of PLC. How I can check what was happened? Do you know about any test instruments or actions which can help me? Or I have to ask my boss to buy another new module? Experts, answer please. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello Sasha, I would say... don't throw it away too fast, because I am not sure if the problem is not based upon the backplane module of the S7-300. I have already seen some systems with faulty backplande modules... and well working modules. Maybe it is worth it to get a replacement CP, if possible and if the new CP works... it's obvious, if the CP also does not work, the "problem" is somewhere else... the backplane module would be one option then.
