I have a couple of networking questions here on regards about switches. I read that profinet runs on 100mbps, Full duplex. So my thoughts are to connect them like the image shown in my attachment : Profinet_Connection.jpg. 1) Would a unmanaged basic switch like theHirschmann Spider 5TXwork for profinet communication? 2) Is it possible to add a normal switch that supports 100Mbps/Full Duplex(Auto-negotiation) in between Simotion controller and the rest of the Profinet communication like in the diagram? 3) On that same switch, is it possible to hook up a Allen-Bradley PLC ? On the AB PLC, we will not be utilizing anything on the ethernet port other than just VPN remote assist. 4) My main concern of having a switch in between the profinet devices is : Will it cause latency? or any other bandwidth problems? 5) Having a AB device in the same switch, will it cause protocol clashes? Hope to hear from the experts!
