Update MD from probe cycle?

CraigSimpson Posts: 159 Rating: (1)	Is it possible to update MD34090 from a probe cycle. Once a linear scale has been changed and set with a laser I still need to correct machine ABS zero. The probechecks the size and gives me the error. I can use this and update it manually by typing it in but is it possible to write myself a program where it uses the errorvalue and does it automatically. I know how to use sizes to update G54-57, but not MD's. Thanks in advance, Craig.

CraigSimpson Posts: 159 Rating: (1)	Perfect - Axis 4 zero position is now set from a probing cycle! Can Icommand an NCK reset in my program?? I tried @@_N_IBN_SS but it does not recognise this. (Taken from the NCK reset line whilst archiving.) Thanks in advance, Craig.

SteveA Posts: 297 Rating: (41)	I don't think you can cause an NCK reset from a part program, and I don't think it's a good idea anyway. You can re-reference an axis using G74 if you just want to activate your updated reference position. HTH, SteveA

CraigSimpson Posts: 159 Rating: (1)	I don't want move a program zero, I want to move MD34090[1]. Thisis for after a heidenhain scale has been removed and replaced. Although this MD is a configuration change (cf) type, if changed via program it needs and NCK reset to make it active. I have attached my program for anyone to use or look over if they wish, excuse all my comments as I am new to probing. Attachment PROBE_W_ZERO.zip (178 Downloads)

SteveA Posts: 297 Rating: (41)	You didn't mention that the scale was an absolute scale. The G74 function will work for incremental or distance coded scales. There is a PI function NCRES that will reset the NC, but this is invoked by the PLC or HMI. You could define an M code that reset the CNC. Never tried it, so I don't know if it will work when the drives are active and a program is running. HTH, SteveA

CraigSimpson Posts: 159 Rating: (1)	It's not absolute, it has to be referenced on start up over its 20mm reference markers. I have spare M codes but over so many machines it becomes a big project. I will just stick to putting in a message to NCK reset. Thansks for the help.

The NC command G74 W1=0 will cause the w1 machineaxis to move through the reference marks as configured and re-calculate the actual position using the current 34090 value. The most you should have to do is execute a NEWCONF before the G74 to activate the updated 34090 value. HTH, SteveA

CraigSimpson Posts: 159 Rating: (1)	Cheers mate, I shall try this. As I said earlier in the poast I have read somewhere that even a "cf" MD has to be NCK reset if commanded in a program, via newconfig. Can't find it in my notesthough!
