Hi, i have recived this LAD-file to upgrade the scalance to latest version because the fiber channels dies/stays dead after some time.

We have a bunch of 6GK5 308-2FM10-2AA3, where the fiber gets disabled over time and then stays dead.

So i got the kV404008.lad file, and i have tried to upload if several times from the HTTP and once over FTP.

Ftp seems to finish, but after a reboot of the device, its still on V3.9.3.

it seems you have the wrong file.

For your MLFB, you need wV404008.zip.

I noticed that later that i got th k.. instead of w..

Module updated, however, out fiber channels in this module is still completely dead.

Started a few weeks ago, one channel died, then after another few weeks the other dies, and cannot be brought to live.

Our customer have currently 2 total dead switches, and 3 that has one chanel dead and they are just sitting and waiting for the second to die and production could stop.

Any ideas how to fix the dying fiber channels on this module? One hope was that upgrading the firmware could fixed this, but did not.

but did you install the incompatible FW on SCALANCE "k.." or the right one "w.."??

If the SCALANCE has incompatible Firmware, the LED "f" flashes red if module is starting. Dos it?

Is there some entry in logging table?

 The k-version refused to install, so the only problem was to get the latest w-version for this scalance, and it installet correctly.

Are the fiber channels dead or are the cable corrupt after some time? Fiber cables can easily be destroyed by dust or mechanical movement? Does the fault move with the Scalance when replacing a good one with a bad one with different cables?

Its been concluded that its a manufactor problem with the chip for the fiber, and all the scalance switches shall be replaced.

Oh, that is bad luck.

 Yeah, we have around 8 of them here in the factory, and all has failed or failing.

Manufacturing error around the fiber parts, make it age/deteriorate fast.
