Upgrade license for Simatic Softnet

zay_ir Advanced Member Joined: 2/22/2008 Last visit: 11/28/2024 Posts: 38 Rating: (0)	Hello, we have upgraded Simatic Softnet V6.0 to V7.1(2008). We already had a license diskette for the older version. When i installed the new CD, in automation licence manager, i only transfered the new license from the USB. Now, i get a message saying license is not there even though it is installed. Do i have to install the older license first? Please help me on this issue. Please note that older version was installed on Win2K and new simatic Net is installed on WinXP. Thanks

Start Automation License Manager and go to harddisk C:\ Here you will find the old license and the upgrade license. Select the old license and go to License -> upgrade, then the old license will disappear and there will be shown the new license version. I could not install the old license. The old license is from a diskette and was transferred before (inWindows 2k)by using "AuthorsW". Can you please help me. Thanks.

If you have a PC with Diskette station, you can install Automation License Manager there and perform the upgrade on that PC. Then you transfer new License on USB stick and put it on new PC. Or you can see online help of Automation License Manager to use network. Best regards, Wizard

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, I am not sure if all licenses may be handled by the ALM but they should at least be shown. So do what do you see right now if you look to the HDD with the ALM? Do you see a license or two and how do they look like? Maybe you can post a Screenshot of your ALM with the required drives and license information's. Best regards J_Bell

I tried to transfer the key from the floppy to drive C using ALM but there was an error message. I will try to get a screenshot ofthe error asap. How do i update the license key if i cannot copy the old license to the drive C? For info: the update software is Simatic Net PB Softnet-S7 edition 2008-upgrade edition 2006 Thnx for helping.

Indeed, the license had to be recuperated from the old pc. however, I have a new problem regarding the update of the license. You can view the error in the attachment below. Please advise. Thank you.
