Upgrade S5 to S7 with 3964R protocoll Comunication

Duccio Bronze Member Joined: 12/7/2011 Last visit: 3/7/2025 Posts: 384 Rating: (10)	Good morning to all, I had an PLC S5 115U with CP524 for a 3964R comunication, with InTouch V7,0. The S5 PLC have been replaced with an S7 400H, CPU 412-5H and two rack ET200M, for the comunication with InTouch, I've installed one CP341 and configured for the 3964R protocol. For exchange the data beetewen CPU an CP i use the FB8 "P_SND_RK and FB7 "P_RCV_RK" as the sample projet zxx21 describes. The problem is that the comunication dosen't work, in the PC i see the connection OK but no one variable is read or write. Does anyone know if it's possible establish the comunication with this new configuration? Thanks for any help.

The 3964R communication using CP 524/ 525 is with RK512 Driver with 3964R Protocol. Simply put,the RK512 Driver handles the transmission of Data Requested by the SCADA ( DBs,Flags etc ). The 3964R protocol implementation on CP341does have the RK512 functionality. Theoretically it can be used for RK512 Communication. Navnag

Yes CP341 does support RK512 driver. However you must take care that there are differences in addressing in S5 / S7 ( S5 DBs have Word addressing while S7 DBs have byte addressing ). Also the Floating point value format in S5 ( kG ) is different from REAL format of S7. I have attached a Document explaining how to implement RK512 in S7 PLCs using CP341 for Proface HMI Panels. The problem was that the 3964R protocoll is used only from PC to perform the request to the PLC S5 or S7, but (in my case) the CP341,it's can translate the request only if have been set the RK512 protocoll, also, on InTouch side must be set the driver for S7, and adjust the sintax address for S7.
