Dear all,

My customer is using Simatic PDM V5.1 standalone to configure the site instruments.

As this version is too old and do not support new instrument, now customer wish to upgrade to latest version (V9.0).

Site is using profibus card CP5511 Profibus card (PCMCIA Interface) for instrument and software connection.

I could not find any information about PDM V5.1 upgrade to V9.0.

Wondering if anyone have any idea about this?

If possible I wish to get the installer for Simatic PDM V9.0 to test on the possibility of upgrading.

As well as the replacement of the CP5511, currently I am targeting CP5711 the usb based PROFIBUS communication modules.

Please advise, appreciate very much for your response.

In the announcement for PDM v9.0, upgrades are available from PDM v6.x; in an older link, I have found the order number for an upgrade from v5 to v6.0; you will have to discuss ywith your siemens rep to see if that upgrade is still available, and verify the OS versions that support it.

I will check with Siemens rep if the upgrade V5.0 to V6.X is available or not.  Thank you very much for your info.

For the OS, currently my customer's laptop is running Win2000.

CP5511 only supports Windows XP and 2000.

As new model of computer no longer have PCMCIA port, I think CP5711 is the most suitable replacement device.

Please find the compatibility os table for all Simatic profibus pc cp in attachment.

As PDM V9.0 also supports Windows 7 SP1, I think the most suitable OS version is Windows 7 SP1.

Anyway I will confirm this with Siemens rep.

Please note that PDM v9 requires Win 7 Ultimate.
