Upgrading to Windows 7 - SIMATIC NET SOFTNET-PB DP 7.1 - CP5611

Anders Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	I have inherit a project which is written in VB.NET and uses SIMATIC NET SOFTNET-PB DP 2008 (7.1) for communicating with an S7-200 via PROFIBUS.The PC is Master and PLC is Slave. First! I'm a PC Software Guy and have no knowledge about PLC and very little about PROFIBUS and SIMATIC... The software is running on a Windows XP computer and works perfectly. But since Microsoft is removing support for XP it has been desided that all XP computer must go and be replaced by Windows 7. I have tried to figure out what I need to make the PLC - PC Communication to work but there are too many options (for which I need a lot of knowledge to be able to select the correct one). So if someone could advise me on which version of SIMATIC I should use and which CP card I would be very grateful!

Symfairy Posts: 118 Rating: (11)	Hi Anders, I would suggest you to use the latest version of SOFTNET-PB DP which isV12. But CP 5611 doesn't work wth this versionof the software. Anders Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hello Symfairy, Thank you for your answer. In reading the document you linked to I found that it looks like there are some problems with V12. 1. It doesn't support NCM PC, which then I guess I need to redo the whole configuration? 2. It only supportCP 5612, CP 5622 and CP 5711 I want to make the least possible changes to the system so do still recommend V12 or should I go for 8.2? And which CP?
