Upload OP15 Program

Good day exerts!

We need to replace OP15 by their spare of same model (but not same part number), so we need software that could upload and download (no need editing) OP15 (yes we don't have the backup).

On the OP15 manual I got, it says the programming software for it is Protool, but I also read that Protool won't let you upload program, is this right?

But I also read that COMTEXT could also be used for programming of the OP15, and if the program is done by COMTEXT we could also upload it by COMTEXT, is this right? What if it's programmed by Protool could it also be uploaded by COMTEXT?

Could we know what software is used for programming it?

Could anyone provide copy/link for COMTEXT (and/or Protool)?

I'm sorry to say, that you will have no chance, to save your project.

An OP15 will not supported by ProSave, and therefor you have to use an identical target panel with the same part number:

 Why is that if it's not supported by ProSave I have to use identical panel? So what software could I use if I have identical panel? So it could upload (get) the program from the panel regardless of what software was used to download to panel?

 Why should I migrate it, couldn't I just download it to the spare panel via COMTEXT?

ProSave isn't supported for this panel. All depends if previous cfg of panel was created with COMTEXT and also to firmw of OP15. If previous project was created with Comtext, it is big chance for upload.

1) So let's say it's configured and downloaded with COMTEXT and I did upload it. Could I download the COMTEXT backup on a slightly different OP? Because they said the spare is also OP15 but not same part number, the screen a bit bigger, with 4 line/rows of text, while the existing OP15 only have 2 lines/rows screen. 

2) What if it's not configured/downloaded by COMTEXT, there's no chance for upload? 

3) So if a panel is supported by Prosave (ok OP15 is not), we could upload and redownload the backup regardless of what used for configure/download? Even on not identical panel?

4) Another thing, I already downloaded COMTEXT v3.10. The problem is there's no description whatsoever. What windows operating system supports it? How to use it?

sry my friend but probably you don't remember my sugestions about real DOS support requirements from another topic, probably same with this problem. Also what I remember, Win95 is supported, hope good remember. Sry but in my experience, I know OP-15 as device which can be simply configured as 2 or 4 line display configuration, so don't know exactly what you mean about another type of OP-15. Also I was sugested to you check some documentation to OP-15 where is simply described how to configure OP-15 with Comtext also, german help can be available if you'll send support request to Siemens probably. What else I can recommend to you? Did you try all what I've sugested to you?

again my opinion to your questions.

1. there can be other version in this case like A,B and C. They can differ with mentioned display lines physically. If you have upload in Comtext you can download probably to other OP that is supported by Comtext, in different type of panel you need change probably important parts like display chars or other things. Look also to firmware versions, what I remember correctly firmw. 2.20 is important like border, if I good remember OPs with less as firmw. 2.20 can't be downloaded with ProTool f.ex. (if you'll have also ProTool cfg that you did in history), only information.

2. in my opinion yes, no chance.

3. ProSave make physical image from supported panels that can be downloaded to same version of panel, not different. This is standard information. What I know, OP15 isn't supported by ProSave.

1) You mean I can edit the file uploaded by COMTEXT? I thought it will be just an image file to be downloaded to same OP. 

2) I see, but because it's not supported by ProSave right? If it's supported by ProSave, it won't matter what software it was configured right?

no other way as test it with installed Comtext and upload, then you can see if you can use it. I got old OP7a???? configured with Comtext in my plant but till this time don't try install Comtext (don't have suitable old PC), maybe also some Win NT old machine can help. In case of supported by ProSave, I still don't know that old type of HW configured with Comtext and supported by ProSave. Sry with that.
