"Uploading device to PG/PC" is not clickable

merdogmus Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hello, I am trying out new TIA portal and S7-1200 CPU's. I made a simple program for s7-1200 and it worked well. Also can connect to PLC and start and stop it. But, when i tried to upload back the project from s7-1200 plc, I just can't. Becouse the "Upload device to PG/PC" is not clickable. I opened a blank new project but it did not work. I used that way with s7-300 plc and it did work but this one is not. Am I missing something?

Depending on the version of TIA Portal you are using, the method ranges from hard to little less difficult. Regardless of the version, it is possible. It is NOT intuitive no matter what Siemens may think. There are threads in the forums here that describe various processes. In the 10.5 SP2 version of the portal, start up TIA Portal, scroll down to the Online section of project view. Navigate through that until you can see your PLC. At that point, you may find some options to upload whatever is loaded into the PLC. Note you lose any groupings you may have done, plus a few other oddities. However, it does work and you can download whatever you uploaded and it will function as before. With some careful searches using google "site:www.automation.siemens.com portal upload" or something like that, you should find FAQs and forum threads that describe it better.

I only have the Basic, not the pro version, so the upload from PG/PC device option never becomes enabled for me. I can however use the alternate method and via online access see the PLC, program blocks, and upload from there. It is not simple, and it might be a bug, but it also might be a pro-only feature.

Dybeck Member Joined: 8/17/2012 Last visit: 9/12/2024 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Im using V11 sp2 Step7 Professional and have the same problem, by a empty project it let me select download, but i cant upload a configured device to a empty project. this have never been a problem with normal Step 7. I thought things schould get easier with tia portal and not more difficult.
