Use I/O with IOT2050

Hi,

let me understand, to use I/O with IT2050 i should install an Arduino shield and then configure it separately with C++ and then read from Nodered, or can i use directly IO in X10, X11, X12, X13 and somehow read it from nodered directly.

maybe it seems simple question but i'm learning it all from basic.
