Dear All,

I am trying to demonstrate to my students how to use an HMI along with a PLC.

We have an S7-300, 313C-2DP to be exact, along with an AO and AI cards.

We also have TIA V13.

I want to show them how to program an HMI and since we do not have an HMI available, I want to use the PC as a PC station.

I tried to use SIMATIC HMI Application=>WinCC PRofessional but I could not connect it to my PLC, I guess due to the communication slots available on the CPU.

I tried using PC General=> PC Station but I was also unlucky.

I have programmed HMIs before but never PCs as station.

Our current setup is that the PLC CPU is connected to the PC via an MPI cable.

Any ideas how to get this project going ?

Edit:

We have a kit where we can simulate digital IOs and analog inputs, if using the "Start Runtime on PC" button would be good enough so that when we press any button on the HMI (simulated on PC), it will have effect on the actual PLC at hand, that would be enough for us.

which WinCC you have exactly installed on the PC and whoch Engineering you use?

I am using WinCC Professional V13 along with Step 7 Professional V13.

I do not understand what you mean by "what engineering do I use".

WinCC Professional V13 ist the Engineering Software, here you configure the HMI(pictures, buttons...).

Then you download this data to the WinCC RT Professional V13, this is a other SW Package which is the HMI Runtime on the PC.

But, is there anyway I can simulate the WinCC using the simulator and at the same time use the actual PLC at hand ?

yes this is possible.

Check the settings in the HMI Connection which access point is configured.

Then check in Windows Control Panel -> set PG/PC Interface that for this accesspoint the correct network card is selected (the one which used to connect th PC to the PLC).

But, since I guess that this will actually cause more confusion, I guess using WinCC Runtime Professional would be more straightforward.
