User defined start address

If you change starting address of DI cards to a number bigger than starting address of AI cards, you can't access to data of that DI card.

I don't know why it happens. I'm sure there are a text or document in Siemens, but I can't found it.

Here's bellow the reeason.

For each CPU, you can not access IOs with addresses outside the Process Image Input (PII) or Process Image Output (PIO).

For example, ThisCPU312 "6ES7312-1AD10-0AB0"has 128 byte PII & 128 byte PIO.

So you can not access I 129.0 for instance or PIW300.

But For thisCPU3126ES7312-1AE14-0AB0, has 1024 byte PII & 1024 byte PIO.

So you can access I 129.0 for instance or PIW300.

 For my understanding, as the start address can be user-defined, I 129.0 is possible to access in  case  the input starting address is I 10.0 for example. Just the absolute address range is not more  than  128 byte.(I 0.0 ~ I 127.7 or I 10.0 ~ I 137.7). 

 Anyone having such experience can further discuss about it.

I have a project with 2 CPUs.

CPU1: size of process-image input and output separately 3000

CPU2: size of process-image input and output separately 512

As the first CPU 1 use the I/O address from the small value. So the CPU 2 has the analogue I/O address such as 1910 which is out side the rage of the CPU 2 512. And it works.

Somebody can explain this situation for me.

Supplement: I just thought in this case, the address setting for the project should be <3000+512=3512, then it will work, am I right?

I agree with IBN Service.

If you go to HW configuration, Then double click on your CPU, then go to Cycle / Clock Memory tab, you will found setting of size of process input area and size of process output area.

You can not enter a range.

And if you hit F1 key: 

You will found the following statement:

Size of Process Image

Only relevant for CPU with a variable size of the process image.

· Set the size of the process image (in bytes) here. 

The range of the process image always starts with input or output byte 0.
