Using ALARM_DQ.

Now we have the following problem: When 40 alarm are true then no new alarms will be reported. When one excisting alarm is going then the new alarm is reported after that. Is there a limit to excisting and active ALARM_DQ alarms? Hope not. Please help me with you knowledge! Jaap

Robert vA Member Joined: 4/10/2007 Last visit: 3/11/2010 Posts: 1 Rating: (1)	Hi Jaapie, This is what I found in the manual (System Software for S7-300/400 System and Standard Functions - Volume 1/2) The amount of data transferable using the accompanying value SD for SFCs ALARM_S, ALARM_SQ, ALARM_D and ALARM_DQ cannot exceed a maximum length. This data length is calculated as follows: maxleng = min (pdu_local, pdu_remote) - 48 Definitions: • pdu_local: the maximum length for CPU data blocks (SZL_ID W#16#0131, INDEX 1, Variable pdu) • pdu_remote: the maximum length for display device data blocks Example: A CPU 414-1 sends a message to a programming device PG 760 (via MPI). pdu_local = 480 Byte, pdu_remote = 480 bytes, Result: maxleng = min (480, 480) - 48 = 480 - 48 = 432 The maximum transferable data length per SFC is thus 432 bytes. I'm not sure if this is causing the maximum of 40 messages. Cheers, Robert

I'm not sure but this link will tell if I'm right: https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&lang=en&objid=841294&caller=view the only thing is that there is nothing about a ALARM_DQ and a maximum of 40 only a ALARM_S. strange.....
