Using Profibus DP V1 Acyclic communication

Hi

I am using a S7 400H PLC with step 7 writing code in STL. I am trying to read parameters from a GE AF-650 drive over profibus. From reading through manuals i see that using read/write requests, parameter information can be retrieved from the drive. Has anyone tried this before? or even tried to read data from any device using this method? There doesnt seem to be any examples online anywhere. Any information / help would be greatly appreciated

The DPV1 Read/Write functions for S7-300 and S7-400 are SFB 52 and SFB 53; I have printed out the descripion of these function blocks from the System and Standard functions manual, you can look at it through this link:

What restrictions are there for active jobs when communicating with 'WR_REC/'RD_REC' and 'RDREC'/'WRREC' via PROFIBUS DP and PROFINET IO?

Last but not least, here is a manual from GE showing how to communicate to AF-650 drives over Profibus-DP. You should especially look at the chapters on parameter read/write over DPV1. You willl notice that the first infformation requested is the "slot" number; that is why I added the first link above. Note that you also have sample programs using DPV1 with Siemens drives (sorr, no GE samples...)
